VW Bug Club turning Echternach into air-cooled heaven
History on wheels A busy Sunday was ahead of us! With the cars’n’coffee in the morning we made an early launch to our day. The Oldtimer Breakfast was a great success and – as always – worth getting out of bed in the early hours. (Have a look at our previous article if you haven’t already) After spending the entire morning walking around a parking lot enjoying the presence of many classics, we eventually made our way to Echternach, where yet another classic car meet was on our list, named – History on wheels. As we set of, we found many people with the same mindset as ours, who first attended the cars’n’coffee in the morning and moved later to Echternach. On our way there we had a quick stop at a petrol station to fill up the Alfa and grab some refreshments. History on wheels was held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the national VW Bug Club. With that said, it was no surprise to encounter many air-cooled Volkswagen. Even though the event was dominated by early VWs’ we were happy to see some other makes and models. The meet itself was very well organized with a special car park only for classics, an exhibition area and a main parking area for those who attended the Rallye earlier that day. To top it off, cake was served at the very end to celebrate both a successful event and the clubs’ anniversary. Happy Birthday! Written by: Tom Barnich Photography by: Charel Barnich | Tom Barnich
