A tiny concours d'elegance attracting lots of classics
Young and Oldtimer Day Steinsel We arrived fairly late at the event and had therefore not been very optimistic in seeing many cars. Luckily our expectation were not met. As we had no reservation we were directed to the visitors parking, which was just behind the main showground. We parked our little red Alfa among some other very tasty metal boxes and headed to the main showing ground. But before we did so, we took our time to appreciate the large variety in classic cars in the car park before we eventually made our way there. I like the way that most of the cars in the visitors place are mainly drivers cars rather than seeking to win a concours d'elegance! Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate the time and effort people put in restoring their cars to factory condition (I am one of those people), but there is just something about these “not so pretty” cars telling their history thorough their patina. Here, I also encountered my personal highlight of the event – a Fiat 600M from the early 1960s. Anyway, lets move on to the exhibition area… Arriving there we were greeted by a rather unusual line-up of cars, trucks, transporters and campers. You normally would expect to see the mainstream classics but the variety was huge. From Italian sports cars to American muscles there was just nearly everything. Overall a great event, organized by the municipality of Steinsel in cooperation with the "Commission Jeunesse-Sports-Loisirs". Well done guys!
