It’s Winter, this means (for most of us) a rest for your beloved classic car. Moisture, salt and wet tarmac are the main enemies for a long lifecycle of any car. Therefor most of us are doing the best to preserve their cars by avoiding putting them on the road as long as the weather is unstable. Yet the impatience of many car owners shows. If you followed the car scene over this winter season you might have noticed that there are some hardcore enthusiast who seemingly not care about any of the environmental enemies… And we salute you!
GP on Ice in Zell am See celebrated a comeback after 45 years with an astonishing line-up of both classic and modern cars and former motorsport legends as Hans-Joachim Stuck or Walter Röhrl. On the other hand, there was St Moritz on Ice. Another occasion to get former sports and rallye cars on a zero-traction circuit. Now, both events had a great success and showed us that we simply have to enjoy our cars while being (maybe) a little less precautious. Which draws me to what the national classic car scene of Luxembourg has to offer. We might not have glorious race tracks or frozen lakes to pull of similar events, but we do know how to enjoy our cars over the darker months.
As every year the national classic car federation – LOF – organized the Autojumble, a classic car exhibition in Luxembourg’s capital. Beside of cars being put on display it is much more a reunion of everyone who is active in the national classic car scene, from clubs and associations over to upholstery and maintenance shops.
This year’s exhibition was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Ford Capri, first presented to the public in 1969 at the Brussels Motor Show. LOF made a staggering effort to gather 10 pristine Capri and displaying them. One of them the Zakspeed Group 5 Turbo-Capri race-car.
Apart from the various Capri, the exhibition ground was loaded with many tasteful classics. LOF has proven themselves again a great success. Like the previous editions, the 38th was no exception, drawing in over 5000 visitors over the weekend.
LOF reserved some spots just beside the main entry for classic car owners to park their vehicles, making the car park worth taking a look at!
Thank you LOF and on to a successful season 2019!
