I have been looking forward for this very moment for a long time now. Finally taking a few days off for some relaxing in a place I used to live not so long ago – the sun-kissed island of Mallorca. My bond to the island is very strong and I personally can’t imagine a better place to stay or live, which is why I like to come back here all so often. We stayed at some friends of mine for our short abidance as we were very kindly invited by them.
Prior to my departure I had done some research on car events happening on the island. It did not take long until one specific event caught my eye. Each Wednesday, Mallorcas' Classic Car Club (Club de Cotxes Clasics) holds an afterwork for classic car owners in a small restaurant in Palmas' harbour.
Being in the islands' capital city of Palma, the location has been very well chosen as motorway connections from and to the event are quite good, plus the traffic isn't too bad, given you're in the islands' biggest city right in the centre of the infamous Paseo Maritimo. Personally, I have been blown away by the entire setup. The organisation is well executed, there are specially designated parking spots for classics just in front of the restaurant, the food as the drinks are tasty and the music is well chosen to suit the scene, with the volume turned down enough to enjoy a proper conversation yet high enough to enjoy the beats.
Hearing people chitchatting of their latest drives through the Tramuntana or talking about their newest mod acquisition was somehow a nice change to overcrowded beaches. At this point I really missed on not having a classic to roam over the islands' streets or challenging myself for a sporty drive through the mountains.
Deductively, it is just mesmerising gazing at vintage beauties with the sea and chin-dropping yachts in the background while enjoying your after-work hours. I am definitely planning on paying a visit, once the restoration of my classic is completed.
