Keys, phone, wallet make sure not to forget a thing while leaving home for a classic car event. I grabbed my belongings and hopped in the car to set off to the starting-grid of the 2nd Summer-Tour by Stroossen Klassik. Funny enough none of my previous worries matter anymore while in the driver’s seat roaming the streets. The mind is set on driving. Only driving.
My first participation in a classic car rallye was ahead yet not as a competitor but a team member. We were kindly invited by Stroossen Klassik to capture the moments of the event.
The tour hosted an astonishing lineup of roughly 70 cars. Participants such as the Citroën DS Cabriolet or the sublime 1938 Lancia Aprilia Sport Zagato showing these cars were made to be driven far too bad to be kept as garage queens. It certainly is nice to see museum pieces on the road. After all, those events are about driving as everyone shares a different taste when it comes to motoring. It is the people and spirit of the rallye that makes events like this special and unforgettable. Surely this has been achieved.
The first leg of the route lead the participants through Luxembourg along scenic valleys, cultural and natural sights over the river Moselle into Germany. Where the cars continued their way through the vineyards to the castle of Niederweis.
The first leg was completed, the drivers as co-pilots were heading for their mid-day break to have lunch and rest a bit. Being at such a venue making lunch a sense of occasion of its own. Hereafter the routing continued with its second and last leg of 85km.
From the southern Eifel the direction was set back to Luxembourg. Arrived in the Mullerthal Region the routing went past the picturesque castle of Meysembourg over the B roads to the Good-Year racetrack in Colmar-Berg.
A warm welcome of the Stroossen Klassik members was given to the teams at the entrance of the track. Thereafter everyone had the chance to do several laps on their own.
A great ending to a wonderful day. Thank you to Stroossen Klassik and everyone involved for giving us the opportunity for being part of this experience.
